BELUR MATH KOLKATA-SPIRITUAL JOURNEY

BELUR MATH MATH COMPLEX OF KOLKATA                                                                                                                                               Belur math is located at the west bank of the Hooghly river of Kolkata,is the head quarter of  Ram Krishna missions and its Maths ,of all over the world. This temple is dedicated to Swami Vivekananda his Guru Swami Ramakrishna Parmahansa and to Sarada Ma .

It was my cherished desire to visit it. I found that spirituality and serenity pervades everywhere in this campus. The temple is the fusion of Christian, Islamic, Hindu and Buddhist architecture, thus symbolizing the  unity of all religions. ENTRY TIMINGS are 8.30 AM -11AM then 3.30/4 PM to 5.30/6PM .PLACES TO VISIT IN BELUR M ATH- 1 Sri Ram Krishna Temple 2-Old temple of Sri Ram Krishna 3-Living room of Swami Vivekanad 4-Swami Brmhanand temple 5-River Gnaga Bank 6- Ma Sharda Devi Temple 7-Swami Vivekanand temple 8- Samadhi Peeth 9- Ram Krishna Museum 10-Old Math near Ferry Ghat.

However, the most important place in the entire complex is the Ramkrishna museum so I first visited it. There are rare collections of articles and belongings of Swami Vivekanand with theme representing old places of Ram Krishna Paramhans and Sharda Ma. It was a real treat to the eyes to watch it. Beautiful flowers all around with well-maintained garden were eye catching. Sitting on the steps of Ferry Ghat and watching small ships and boats moving around in the river Ganga is very pleasant and soothing to the eyes. Overall it was a spiritual, memorable and pleasing experience in the Belur Math. I’ll come here again.                                                           Satish Tripathi sctri48 sctri48@gmail.com
