Social health means establishing healthy and supportive relationships with family, friends, and members of society around you. It goes a long way in creating bonding, trust with each other, and support during difficult times.

HEALTH. According to the WHO definition, “health is not only the absence of diseases and affirmity but is a state of physical, mental, and social well-being.” Most of the time, we focus on our physical and mental health and neglect our social health. For the last two years, the Corona pandemic has affected social health adversely. Instead of closeness, everyone is compelled to maintain social distance.

 IMPORTANCE OF SOCIAL HEALTH Many pioneering studies suggest that strong social bonding is linked to a longer life. Contrary to this, loneliness and social isolation result in poorer health, depression, and an increased risk of early death. Studies also show that having a variety of social relationships may help reduce stress, cardiac diseases, and stroke. In this way, people create healthy and positive interpersonal relationships with one another. Social health is the way people interact with other people in society at large. It consists in showing respect towards others, having empathy, supporting and encouraging others, and also asking for help when needed. 

MAN IS A SOCIAL ANIMAL. Philosopher Aristotle had said, -” Man is a social animal. He who lives without society is either a beast or God.”. In fact, a person living in isolation can’t learn and behave according to the norms of a civilized society. He learns the social and supporting qualities only by interacting with the people living in that society. Living in harmony with society comes under the purview of social etiquette.

DETREMAINANTS OF SOCIAL HEALTH: There are many factors that determine the prospect of good social health. There are good education and health care facilities in that area. Its neighbourhood and environment are other important factors.Society and the community should not be exposed to any kind of criminal or violent activity. transport facilities and economic stability should be well established.

Having healthy relationships involves good communication, empathy, and care for family, friends, and colleagues. It also increases your ability to feel good neurotransmitters ,which makes you happier. Being self-centered and isolated has negative effects on health, causing stress and depression, which can lead to danger to oneself and others.  Is stress a problem for social health?  Stress is an important factor through which social and physical environments affect health. Stress can directly affect biological processes, which is a crucial factor in the development of disease. What are the long-term effects of stress on the body? A longer period of stress on the body is associated with health problems such as tension,digestive problems, and headaches. weight gain or loss, insomnia, raised BP,coronary artery disease, heart attack, and stroke.

 Why is social health important ?                                Maintaining an optimal level of social wellness allows you to build healthy relationships with others. Having a supportive social network allows you to develop assertive skills and become comfortable with who you are in social situations. Surrounding yourself with a positive social network increases your self-esteem. How stress effects social Health ?                                                     They may end up having difficulty negotiating smooth interpersonal relationships with spouses, children, friends, and co-workers, and they may end up becoming more isolated, frustrated, and stressed than when they started.                                                       How can social health be improved?                                    Join a group focused on a favorite hobby, such as reading, hiking, painting, or wood carving. Learn something new. Take a cooking, writing, art, music, or computer class. Learn tai chi, yoga, or some other new physical discipline.                                                                  To sum up- humans are social animals, and society is a two-way process. It may increase stress but also be the greatest healer.
