QUALITY OF LIFE (QOL) is defined by the World Health Organization as “an individual’s perception of their position in life in the context of the culture and value systems in which they live and about their goals, expectations, standards and concerns”.Main indicators of the quality of life include wealth, employment, the environment, physical and mental health, education, recreation and leisure time, social belonging, religious beliefs, safety, security, and freedom. In this world, most people are running after money, prestige power, and position. They think that if they accumulate huge amounts of wealth, they’ll become the happiest person and their quality of life will be the best. In this process, they’re bitten by the Affluenzomania Bug. Symptoms of Affluenzomania -are- 1-They want more – 2 -Earn more 3–Spend more 4- They compare their wealth with other richer persons and become unsatisfied 4- Their friendship and relationships are based upon usefulness so it becomes a commodity for them. this leads to—– HURRIMANIA- Too much too soon-Foot is on accelerator-Life becomes things to do list -Constantly pushing themselves to the next level of Material heaven-Bargian is Physical and Emotional health. Many of them end up with burnout syndrome. QUALITY OF LIFE VS STANDARD OF LIVING These two phrases are often confused and considered as having the same meaning. But in fact, they belong to different categories . Quality of life is a subjective measure, it is related to the general well-being of individuals and societies. Besides wealth, it focuses more on mental health and social belongings, safety, and freedom of expression. The standard of living is mainly concerned with wealth or material comfort to the individual or society. PARAMETERS OF QUALITY OF LIFE -Quality of leisure, Quality of Family life, Quality of spiritual and Psychological life, Quality of working environment.Overall mental wellness and satisfaction.
